Zimbabwe Association of Church-Related Hospitals (ZACH)

The Zimbabwe Association of Church-Related Hospitals (ZACH) was founded in 1974 and is the Medical Arm of all Churches in Zimbabwe. ZACH operations are conducted on strict ecumenism. The association is accountable to the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD) regarding the running of health institutions/hospitals and Clinics.

ZACH represents the link between the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD), the Ministry of Health and Childcare (MOHCC), and other health providers and other agencies. Membership currently stands at 135 hospitals and clinics.

ZACH is a Not-for-Profit Faith-Based Organization (FBO) and is registered under the Revised Private Voluntary Organizations (PVO) Act of 2001.

ZACH is the Medical Arm of Churches in Zimbabwe and a non profit making membership based association formally registered in 1974. It is registered in Zimbabwe in terms of the Private Voluntary Organisations Act (Chapter 17:05). Its registration number is (38/75).We are currently made up of 130 members country wide covering hospitals and clinics. We have a secretariat headed by an Executive Director.
  • Representing member institutions (Church Hospitals and Clinics).
  • Assisting member institutions in obtaining required resources including staff and medical supplies.
  • Planning and Coordinating training programs.
  • Linking partners with member institutions.
  • Provide Strategic Information, Monitoring, and Evaluation.
  • Education and information dissemination.
  • Implementing programs and activities to benefit member institutions and communities.
  • Coordination and networking.
  • Source for donations.
Our mandate is to assist and support member institutions in the provision of quality health care service delivery to all Zimbabweans, especially to the most vulnerable groups in society.
The Association secretariat operates from Harare facilitating the operations of church-related hospitals and clinics throughout Zimbabwe. Through its membership, ZACH has a presence in all rural districts of Zimbabwe.
